Amazon is massive.

We all know that. The company has more wealth than 90% of the countries in the world. And many people have some quite legitimate concerns about that.

However, we’re a home working site, so we’re concentrating here on the number and variety of Amazon work from home jobs available. It is possible to make money from Amazon – in MANY different ways – rather than handing the company more of yours.

Since this is an ultimate guide, we are going to be covering a lot of ground. So feel free to use the table of contents to help you navigate to the segments of most interest to you.

We are going to start out with remote jobs, and then take a look at ways you can make money from home with Amazon – without actually having to be hired as an employee.

Amazon Remote Jobs

What Types of Amazon Work From Home Jobs are There?

Amazon mainly has full-time remote positions but you can also find part-time and seasonal work. In fact, one of the easiest ways to get started with Amazon is to apply for seasonal jobs.

The types of position open at any time will naturally change so it is always worthwhile checking back frequently if you do not see anything that catches your eye. In general, you will find that Amazon hires remote workers for the following types of work:

  • Account Management
  • Advertising
  • Amazon Web Services
  • Business and Corporate Development
  • Customer Service and Support
  • Finance and Accounting
  • Fulfilment and Operations
  • Human Resources
  • Logistics and Transportation
  • Marketing and PR
  • Operations
  • Sales
  • Software Development and Engineering
  • Solutions Architects
  • Student Programs

At the time of writing Amazon had over 1700 full-time positions, 2 part-time, and over 20 seasonal positions. Since Amazon uses pipeline listing, a single job posting could represent multiple openings. So there are plenty of home working opportunities out there!

How to Find Amazon Remote Jobs

Amazon Work From Home Jobs: The Ultimate Guide - HomeWorkingClub.com (1)

In order to find Amazon work from home jobs you need to go to their Virtual Locations page. This page allows you to search for current openings and includes filters such as job type, job category, and location.

It is important that you pay attention to the location filter because while all these jobs do allow you to work from home, some are only available in certain countries or states.

On the other hand, it isn’t necessary to go to the CATEGORY section and select Work From Home in order to find remote positions since all the job openings listed on this page are for remote work.

Getting Hired by Amazon for a Virtual Position

Once you have found a job listing that appeals to you, you are well on your way to getting started.

The job listings on Amazon are pretty detailed in terms of the job description, basic qualifications, and preferred qualifications. You should be able to tell fairly easily if each job is right for you or not. If something is not quite a perfect match then you should check out the related jobs listed on the right-hand side of the page.

The only real downside to the site is that it does not specify the salary range for each position. If you feel the need to know what kind of income you could expect before applying then you can always do a search on Payscale to give you a rough idea.

If you are happy with what you see then all you need to do is hit the “Apply now” button to start your application process. Just remember that the process will vary depending on whether you apply for an hourly position, an entry-level position, or a high-level one.

Applying for Amazon work from home jobs will be a lot less stressful if you have all your information and documentation ready before starting the process. Although you may not be asked for too much when applying as an hourly employee, the hiring process for most salaried positions will require that you submit your resume and complete an online assessment.

Another aspect of applying for a remote job with Amazon, or any other company, is passing a remote interview. Interviews can make anyone nervous and remote interviews can be even more complicated – so make sure you are well prepared.

If you are worried about this, we have an article with tips and work from home interview questions that can help.

Since Amazon is highly committed to finding the right people to build a long term working relationship with, it is vital that you do some research on the company and the role that you are applying for. Also remember that Amazon is really big on innovation and efficiency, so be sure to highlight these qualities alongside your knowledge and other qualifications.

The Benefits of Working From Home For Amazon

Amazon prides itself on hiring great people and offering them the opportunity to be innovative. In general, Amazon pays fairly well and offers all the regular benefits that you would expect to get from any major company. Benefits will, of course, vary by country.

One major additional perk is discounts on Amazon purchases. Considering how many things Amazon sells, including food and groceries in the US, this could really add up.

Amazon is also very keen to ensure that their employees remain with them for the long term. There is a big emphasis on ongoing learning at Amazon, and it provides workers with several ways to learn new skills and enhance their careers, such as Career Choice.

The highest-paying positions at Amazon tend to be in management and in senior engineering and software roles. A Solutions Architect, for example, could expect to earn anywhere from $98k to $184k per year.

However, it is perhaps better to not focus simply on how much a particular position pays at Amazon. Rather than comparing the jobs with each other, it makes more sense to compare each position with similar roles at other companies.

It is this comparison that leads to so many articles talking about Amazon Customer Service jobs. Customer Service Associates at Amazon make an estimated annual income of $23k – $43k, based on pay of between $10 and $19 per hour. A Customer Service Manager can expect to make roughly twice that amount.

Working From Home With Amazon as a Freelancer

There are thousands of work from home jobs at Amazon, but not everyone wants to be an employee.

More and more people are turning to freelancing in order to have greater control over their work-life balance, their finances, and their careers.

The good news is that there are plenty of ways for freelancers to make (or save) money from home by making use of Amazon programs.

Amazon Flex Driver

Amazon Work From Home Jobs: The Ultimate Guide - HomeWorkingClub.com (3)

Clearly you will not literally be working in your own home if you choose to become an Amazon Flex driver, but it could be a good side hustle.

All you need to start this part-time Amazon delivery gig is to live in a city Flex operates in, be at least 21 years old, have a valid driver’s license, have a smartphone, and, of course, a mid-sized to large vehicle.

Once you have downloaded the app and specified your service area, you can search for available delivery blocks. The app will let you know how long the block is likely to take as well as your expected earnings.

According to Amazon, most delivery partners earn $18-$25 per hourand there is also a rewards program that can help you get discounts on things like fuel, car maintenance, and general purchases.

This driving job requires significantly more walking and lifting than something like Uber, but it’s unlikely you’ll need to deal with drunk packages!

Amazon Mechanical Turk

Those looking for microwork are probably familiar with Amazon Mechanical Turk (or MTurk) already. If you haven’t come across it yet, MTurk isa crowdsourced site where you can get paid for carrying out small online tasks.

Amazon’s microwork site is pretty popular because there are always lots of tasks available. To give you an indication of how small these tasks are and how many are available, you are limited to 3800 per day!

Tasks can involve surveys, data entry, writing, transcription and much more. This is legitimate work that you can do from home online but it is not going to pay you much. If you really hustle you could make more than minimum wage, but the reality is that this is gig work designed to help you earn a little extra cash.

If you live in the US or India you are able to withdraw your earnings in cash. If not, I’m afraid MTurk will only provide you with gift cards to make purchases on Amazon.com.

If you would like to learn more about MTurk we have a detailed MTurk review here.

Amazon Kindle Direct Publishing

Like almost everything in the world of books and writing, opinions are sharply divided on Amazon KDP. Nevertheless, publishing books with KDP is a legitimate way for you to make money by working from home with Amazon.

Amazon KDP allows you to self-publish both eBooks and paperbacks for free. While it may not always be the best choice for a professional author, KDP is certainly one of the easiest ways to get your work published and start earning money.

Best of all, we are essentially talking about passive income (once, of course, you’ve done the hard work of actually writing the book(s). It is definitely worthwhile continuing to market your books, but you can essentially move on to other projects while still earning ongoing income.

The reality is that you will probably not make loads of money publishing one book through KDP, since you only receive a royalty and must pay all applicable taxes. But if you publish several, or are one of the few fortunate enough to have a real hit, then earning income from KDP could make a big difference to your life.

If you are interested in self-publishing, check out our guide to how to self publish books.

Amazon Associates Program

Amazon Associates is the name of Amazon’s affiliate marketing program. It’s extremely popular with bloggers and website owners.

Essentially, all you have to do is recommend or review products, and direct people to Amazon to buy those products. You then receive a proportion of Amazon’s revenue. Some affiliate marketers make serious money, but don’t underestimate how much work is involved. (You can read about the basics in this blogging guide).

Amazon’s program only pays up to 10% commission, and commission rates are much smaller for some product ranges. As such, you do need to be driving a lot of traffic to make this a full time income.

That being said, it is incredibly easy to find products you can feel comfortable promoting to your audience, no matter what your niche, because of the huge variety of products Amazon has on offer.

If you want to really ramp up the use of this business model then you might also want to consider taking a course like Making Sense of Affiliate Marketing, which we review here.

Amazon Influencer Program

This program is an extension of Amazon Associates and is aimed at influencers who have a significant following on social media. Amazon will want to check your YouTube, Instagram, Twitter, or Facebook account to determine if you are eligible to participate.

If you qualify, Amazon will give you an exclusive vanity URL so that you can create a page showcasing the products you recommend. This means you no longer need to rely on hyperlinks to direct your followers and provides you with greater opportunities to earn money on qualifying purchases.

Becoming an Amazon Seller

This is an Amazon opportunity which could be either a side hustle or a full-time enterprise, much like selling on eBay. Amazon seems to be fully aware of this and has priced its seller accounts accordingly.

The Amazon Seller Individual plan charges a referral fee and $0.99 every time you sell an item. This plan is for those who wish to sell or re-sell the odd item in order to make some extra cash. Check out this guide to selling items on Amazon.

The Professional plan is $39.99 per month, no matter how many items you sell. You will still have to pay the referral fees but this is clearly a much better option if you expect to sell more than 40 items in a month. It is also a great way to get your brand onto Amazon.

Whether you are selling your own products or reselling someone else’s, becoming an Amazon seller can get those products in front of a massive audience. You can benefit from this even if what you do is make crafts, thanks to Amazon Handmade.

How much you can make will depend to a significant degree on how much work you are willing to put in.

Fulfilment by Amazon (FBA)

If you plan to work from home selling your own products then you should definitely check out FBA. Fulfilment by Amazon allows you to run your online store while letting Amazon handle the issues of storage, shipping, and return processing.

This program provides greater confidence to customers as Amazon has a very solid reputation when it comes to shipping and returns. Your items may also be eligible for Prime or free shipping.

You can still sell from your own or third-party e-commerce sites if you wish, and you can expand into selling to over 100 countries without having to deal with all the normal hassles of exporting.

If you are considering using FBA for your freelance business, there’s a great course on it here.

Amazon Business

Okay, technically this isn’t an Amazon work from home job, but it could save you some money if you have your own business. This is a service which offers discounts to even the smallest of firms.

The Amazon Business service is free and it could definitely save you some money if you need to purchase a lot of physical items to run your business. We have a full review of Amazon Business here if you want to learn more.

Other Opportunities to Make Money From Home With Amazon

As if the aforementioned were not enough, Amazon has several other programs that could help certain freelancers make money from home. You can make money from home with Amazon by:

Final Thoughts

It should be fairly clear by now that there’s a HUGE number of opportunities to make money from a wide range of Amazon work from home jobs. While customer service jobs from home might be particularly popular, they make up only a small proportion of the employment opportunities – and a tiny fraction of the earning opportunities.

More important than the increase in remote jobs at Amazon is perhaps the fact that it has opened up so many ways for home workers and freelancers to make money by working with, rather than for, the company.

No matter what your interests or skillsets, it is highly likely that you will find some options that involve working for, or with, Amazon.
