Based on height though you cant max out certain attributes. In your example I saw the blocking max was 65-70. (that sucks for me as I explained in a previous post) so I'm thinking its less about being OP and more about most builds being hom*ogeneous. If at 6'5" guard cannot be a shot blocker or rebound machine, then guess what he WILL be?

So I'd worry less about OP and more about 'sameness'

You’re right. If you’re looking at doing something out of the box, the vitals restrictions might limit you. I can see how that would be frustrating for offline. Online, most of the restricted stats aren’t ones a typical guard would be worried about anyways. So yeah you probably can’t create a rebounding block machine 6’5 guard or a 7 footer with De’Andre Fox speed and a killer handle but you can create a pretty OP offensive guard with respectable defense. We don’t know yet how much changing to a 3-5 or raising your height significantly will limit shooting, dribbling or athletic stats at this point.

A lot of years, I wanted to create an athletic defensive rim running Center but with the ability to knock down open Mid range shots. I think that should be possible.

There will still be the vitals/body restrictions. If you max out wingspan, you won't max out 3pt to 95. Or if you have a 250lb+ player, don't expect high speed. I think attaching athleticism to that somewhat balances it out. You have to consider athleticism when you do skill ratings. I do think Specialized role players could be OP. I can definitely see some having an athletic 3 &D builds where they max out 3pt, perimeter Defensive ratings. Athleticism, and driving dunk. Or I can definitely see the uber athletic playmaking PG with good 3pt.

I’m mostly worried about guards. 3-5 have to worry about more stat categories so it’ll be tougher for them to optimize. I plugged my Center into a spreadsheet with the theoretical 1000 points to allocate and the 550 base points and came out with this.

The athletics are based on what I believe will be close to the caps for a 6’10 or so Center. Strength will probably cap higher but I’m good with the 75 I have this year. As you can see, I had to make more sacrifices to try and get a respectable jumper that I don’t have this year. I cratered my post moves since I rarely get the space to do them online and my perimeter D is a bit suspect. Unfortunately you can’t ignore as many categories as a big.

That charts helps since I haven't really played since 2k19 .

I can see what you were saying comparing Backcourt and Frontcourt. I want to create a PF that is a more Athletic Draymond Green with a more consistent 3pt. Based on that chart, there's not much I can sacrifice. As a big that doesn't want to be a speciallsit, you have to almost touch everything. But If I wanted to create a SG, there's a lot of ratings I can skimp out on. I can skimp on Close Shot, Standing Dunk, Post Control, Pass to an extent(maybe 70-75), Interior D, Block, Off & Def Rebound. Just by skimping out on those ratings, you can pour the points into the other ratings easily.

It doesn’t sound like you’ve done the math man. They give you 1000 points to allocate. That allows you to max out 14.3 categories. The guy in the video was just showing it off, not optimizing. There’s only 22 categories.

He could have maxed out:
Driving Dunk
Driving Layups
Mid Range
3 point
Free Throws (just for more badges)
Ball Handling
Speed with Ball
Pass Accuracy
Perimeter D
Steal
Speed
acceleration
Vertical
Stamina

And have a bit left to throw into Interior D or Strength. That’s wildly overpowered. The stats ignored would have a negligible impact on most guards performance (standing dunk, rebounding, blocks etc.).

Yes, it might not lead to the best spread of badges (hard to know until the game drops) but it certainly looks concerning. It’s also possible the actual version won’t give you 1000 points to distribute which is my hope.

We aren't getting 1000 points. On top of that you didn't take in consideration of height, weight, and wing span.

Ultimately what 2k needs to do is

-Stop allowing low defense guards to hide.
-Destroy 5 Out gameplay

I imagine if they remove brick wall, they could fix our problems. I'm a big, but I'm hands down for removing brick wall and exposing guards.

If 2k can do those things 2k21 will be mounds better than 2k17-2k20

I dunno about that. If 2k is staying the course you're going to see a bunch of glass cleaners with HOF brick wall. How else are these "skilled" players going to score without a guy getting In the way?

I’m saying he could have taken out some of the “useless” stats he allocated to standing dunk, close shots, blocks, rebounding etc. and reallocated them to speed, acceleration and what not that he didn’t max out. It looks like the stat max is 95 on any given stat with some having lower maxes based on vitals (height, weight, position etc) but it doesn’t look like that guard had lower than a ~90 max on any of what most would consider key guard stats.

Where are you seeing 1000 points I haven't been able to see any points on any upgrade screens.

Also, are the upgrades/points equal across the board for physicals and attributes? Are you saying he can lower close shot 20 points and use those exact same points to get 20 speed points? To me, it looked like the system is basing it off how fast you hit 95. So if you lower close shot to 70, you might be a 92 overall, but going up 4 speed points puts you back at 95(hypothetically).

In the video released by 2K the guy gets 1000 points. He’s 6’5 with a pretty average weight and wingspan. It’s a very viable build and anything within an inch either way wouldn’t be much difference. It’s obviously possible that it’s not a final build and we’ll get less points than that but I guess we’ll see.

If we do in fact get 1000 points, 5 out is going to be even more prevalent because having shooting in your build will basically be mandatory. Unless they heavily nerf greens or significantly improve defense and input lag.

That charts helps since I haven't really played since 2k19 .

I can see what you were saying comparing Backcourt and Frontcourt. I want to create a PF that is a more Athletic Draymond Green with a more consistent 3pt. Based on that chart, there's not much I can sacrifice. As a big that doesn't want to be a speciallsit, you have to almost touch everything. But If I wanted to create a SG, there's a lot of ratings I can skimp out on. I can skimp on Close Shot, Standing Dunk, Post Control, Pass to an extent(maybe 70-75), Interior D, Block, Off & Def Rebound. Just by skimping out on those ratings, you can pour the points into the other ratings easily.

Yeah normally I ignore shooting because I didn’t like the sacrifices of the pies for it. Now I feel like it will almost be mandatory. As a big you’ll definitely have to give up something unless you want to just be mediocre at everything.
